Do you remember the antique canopy bed? Well, I finally gave it back to my client and I hope their little girl is having the sweetest dreams in her newly refinished bed  every night. I asked that they take a picture once the bed is set up in her room. I will make sure to share that with you guys!!

Here is my latest project I have in the works for you guys? And I am thinking she will be

for sale?!!! So if you have any specifics on how you would want this dresser, I am open to suggestions...who knows she may just be yours in the near future.

Check out these two chairs that I scored! These Ethan Allen chairs are fabulous and are definitely on top of my TO DO LIST!!! They would make great additions to our front porch or maybe the head chairs for my other dining room table, which I also have in the works. So much to do, so little time!

Long time, no Blog!

I'm sorry for I have not updated my blog for awhile. Working full time, spending time with my mini family, taking care of my baby girl, school and everything else going on etc, etc etc...I am still struggling to find a way to balance it all . I just want to take the time to sit down and thank you all for your patience and continued support. If you haven't already checked out my Facebook page, please do so! I have been working on a few projects..I have an antique canopy bed that I am refinishing for a client, I also have the Zobel Hutch that I will try to finish this weekend (hopefully). I posted a picture of the the canopy bed on my Facebook page, but if you haven't seen it, here it is: 

Over 100 years old! It is very time consuming to do with all the pieces it comes with, but it will be worth it in the end!

The canopy bed is going to be for my client's little girl! I had a chance to meet her when her mommy picked up this dresser from me!

 

Now, I absolutely LOVE this dresser, I almost wanted to keep it after she was finished! But our limited space would just not allow me to do so :/   This vintage style dresser was in GREAT condition. It was sturdy and had spacious drawers. It would have been great for a buffet table or even an entertainment center. How did she look before? Well, here ya go....

How did I refinish her? Well I sanded the top part very lightly, which was veneer! But remember what I mentioned before, veneer is NOT something you should be afraid of. It is still WOOD. Many antiques and vintage furniture have veneer to preserve the quality of the piece! Proper refinishing is a must, but it can be done, I promise you! After sanding, I stained the top and the legs with a dark finish, and painted her aqua blue! How did I get that antiqued look you ask? After distressing her to my liking, I dipped a little bit of the same dark finish I used for the top and legs, using an old t-shirt, I wiped on and quickly wiped off various areas! I then took a trip to Hobby Lobby to change the knobs, and VOILA! She's done! I love how she turned out, don't you??

The "Zobel" Hutch

I have always been a big fan of antique style hutches...there's nothing quite like them! The sculpted legs with the full body hutch just sitting on top with the small intricate details that makes them so unique, feminine, and a show stopper!I have ALWAYS wanted something like this:

 Back in Sacramento, I purchased an old side table with Queen Anne Legs, I refinished it...but did't like it. When we moved to Minot, I saw the table with the rest of our stuff, but legs unattached without the bolts (movers had lost them)...well, what am I suppose to with them now?? Since I moved here, I have been in search of a great hutch...it could be an ordinary hutch but I just have to get my "fix."Besides, I can not purchase my dream hutch without breaking the bank, or driving very far. So, I purchased one from a fellow repurposer, who was getting rid of hers..It came in two pieces, bottom part (buffet) and a top part (hutch). Well, it just so happens she had purchased her hutch from the same exact person I had bought the Buffet table that is sitting in my living room...well, I had my best Minot girl see if she wanted to buy the bottom part (buffet) and I will buy the top part (hutch), thinking my buffet table and the hutch's table was exactly the same size...and...they were not!!!! My buffet table was WAY too big for it...so the hutch I had purchased with no bottoms sat in my garage for weeks. But my creative mind came through...why not attach the OLD Queen Anne legs with this hutch??? Could it be that I may just get my dream hutch after all? Easier said than done! So,  I look for a carpenter on the yard sale site to execute the idea that's in my head! Well, it so happens that a new friend has a husband who happens to be an AMAZING carpenter! She responded to my post, and I was shocked. I knew she has so many projects for him too (you should see the entertainment center he build from scratch), and I felt really bad for asking. I met up with them, showed him my sketch....we talked..not really knowing if we understood each other because I was not sure if I made sense to him at all....But nonetheless, SHE IS FINISHED!!! Here she is....The "ZOBEL" Hutch...Now, I just got her and I haven't done anything to her yet...but I just could not wait to share it with all of you!!!!!

This is named after their beautiful little family. Bryan, attached the legs and carved the curvy designs in the front...it is immaculate! I can't wait to refinish this one...so watch out for it!!!!

Shabby Chic Vanity

This waterfall dresser was in poor shape when I got her. She was white but dirty, chipped, and needed a lot of TLC. I cleaned her up with some TSP (trisodium phosphate) thoroughly and to help take the shiny finish. This process also helps paint stick better! I patched up some knick and holes with wood glue and sanded roughly. You can see all the layers of paint she was finished with before...blue, pink, white. So much history. I have always liked teal, lime green, and white together...so I did just that. I painted the lime green over the white, which actually helped this piece look more organic. Then, the teal color on top. Sanded and chipped the edges with scraper and Voila! This is the ultimate Shabby Chic Vanity, finished off with glass knobs for a more feminine look, which I LOVE!!! And with all that she's been through all these years, she deserves a little sparkle. So, now I ask,  who wants her??? Yeah, she is for SALE! Go to my SHOP right now!!!

Sewing Table for Sale

I went to a thrift store with one my girls downtown. It was her first time thrift shopping with me. HA! She didn't know what she was in for! But she was such a good sport...she even picked up a few things herself. Few things...enough that the people at the thrift store had to figure out how we can haul all this stuff in her Jeep (with sits down, of course)...it was like a puzzle piece! To make story short, they all fit in there....until we went to another store...But anyway, this sewing table was one of the pieces I picked out...it is an amazing piece! Even though it no longer has the sewing machine inside, it has all the pieces to be able to put one there if you wanted to....it could be an end table...could be an entry table, even set a mirror on top for small vanity...possibility...endless! Well here she is...painted in powder blue, chipped and distressed, and the beautiful pull handle painted white!

Very pretty, huh?

1960's Bold and Stenciled Dresser

If you want an accent piece in your home...this is it! This 1960's vintage dresser is done in yellow-lime color, with white drawers and antique copper colored knobs! I have stenciled a leaf design and heavily distressed it to give it a more rustic feel to it. You have to see it to truly appreciate this piece. She stands 43 inches tall, 18 inches in depth, and 33 inches wide! She is truly one of a kind...I wanted to do something very different and step out of my comfort zone...and I think I did just that!

$150 KEEPING THIS PIECE!!!!

Vintage Side Table For Sale! SOLD

I love this side table and I hope you can appreciate it as much as I do. It is one of my thrift store finds, and I am very fortunate to have friends who support my habit of hauling furniture! I was so excited to have sold my first piece of furniture today...to an artist! And gettting a compliment from a fellow artist is AWESOME! Hope they will enjoy it as much I enjoyed redoing it!  But nonetheless, here is my second piece for SALE: She is done in the faintest color blue, and the intricate carved drawer was done in white with the original pull handle...and of course distressed and finished with Tung oil. Thank you all so much for you continued support!
